The Kingdom Rises

In a Kingdom, there was a little boy snail. He knew someday he would become a strong warrior. This snail's name was Cory. Cory had a wonderful family that was grateful to have a nice home in their kingdom, Snaildom. There was a bit of ruckus going on in the town. The emperor had declared war on the kingdom o many powerful snails, Lingor. Lingor was ruthless, and stole from a lot of snails in Snaildom, including Cory's family. Sometimes they would even kill snails.

When Emperor Damen declared war on Lingor, Cory vowed that he would become a warrior and help defeat Lingor. Cory was 10 years old at the time, but he didn't know he had a special secret. The kingdom of Lingor had an army of snails stealing from defenseless snails before Cory was even born. The war started but two years ago. On a warm summer day, Cory was sharpening some weapons he had been preparing when his mother and father walked into the room.

"Son", his father said, "we need to talk to you." "Yes", agreed his mother. "We have been meaning to tell you this, but we didn't know when, because it is going to be a big change in your life."His father spoke in a stern voice. "We... are not your birth parents.""We had adopted you right as you were born because it wasn't safe out there." Your birth parents are the emperor and his queen." Cory stuttered quietly. "B-b-but why"? "Well", his mother replied, "even before you were born, the kingdom of Lingor invaded our kingdom, and stole precious items, and they even killed snails of our kingdom." "The emperor had no choice but to send you off until we had defeated the Lingorians." "When Emperor Damen declared war on Lingor two years ago, we knew that you should be told at a certain age." His father said, "you are twleve now, and can handle this."

"Wow..." Cory has shocked, "I didn't know I was part of the royal family." “This will make me work even harder to defeat the Lingorians”. His mother said to him, “I am glad that you are happy and trying to make things right, but it is dangerous out there. Cory left the room. Had his parents doubted him? He was sure they didn’t, they were just trying to keep him safe wait, he thought... they were doubting me... “I knew it”, he accidentally shouted. Oops, I should keep my thoughts quiet. Well I know the king and queen won’t doubt me, like my guardians did, he thought. They would be proud of me. Cory smiled with delight. Cory exclaimed, “I am going to the castle to go home”!”I have already packed my bags, so please come say goodbye”. They came down. “Bye, have a safe trip; I am very proud to have called you my son”. His mother said, “it is the same for me”. Cory hugged them and slimed away.

On the way to the castle, he could see someone being choked. “Just one more person to get revenge on for being a Lingorian; ruthless and mean. It took Cory 3 hours, but he had slimed for 3 hours to walk 28 miles to get there. He had brought snacks and drinks along the way, so he could stay healthy. He came to the castle wall. His mother and father told him the combination to the castle wall door before he had left. “3 – 2 – 7 – 5 – 8”, Cory repeated to himself. Beep, the door opened.

He got to the door where there were 2 guards. “State your name and business”, said the first one. “I am Cory, the son of the royal family of Snaildom. “Ahhh”, said the second guards in a calming voice, “we have been waiting for your return for a while now”. “The king and queen will be very pleased to see you. The guards saluted Cory and let him in. Cory saw the emperor and queen on their thrones staring at him. “Mother!”, “Father!” Cory said as he walked up to them. “Cory”, his mother, the queen said, “is that really you”? “Yes it is”, replied Cory, “I have returned, and have come to conquer the Lingor!” Emperor Damen said, “I knew you would come to your senses someday!” Cory hugged them both. “I have, father, and I have come with many weapons I made myself to defeat them! “That is wonderful!”, his mother said. “I will lead a army of snails to defeat Lingor so they will never come back!”, Cory said. “I have shields, guns, bows and arrows, catapults, and more!” “Then let’s go”, replied Emperor Damen.

That night, Cory lead an army to the Kingdom of Lindor, Emperor Damen and his queen behind him. The army was set and had tons of weapons. Cory said, “this is the plan”. “We will attack the castle of Lingor first to show we mean business, and then attack the rest of the kingdom.” “I have a battering ram to open up the gates to the castle”. Soon, Cory and his army arrived.

“On three”, Cory shouted. “1... 2... 3!” The battering ram slammed into the door and opened it. Cory struck a fiery bow and arrow to the castle, and the army started to attack. The castle had burned down from the arrow, and everyone in it had died, even the royal family of Lingor. The army had lead Snaildom to victory, and the citizens of Lingor had signed a peace treaty with Snaildom. Later the next morning, there was a ceremony celebrating the victory and bravery of Cory. “I here award you this medal for your bravery and strategies to defeat Lingor, and make peace for all. “Oh we are so proud of you!”, his mother exclaimed. The emperor said, “I knew you had it in you”, and winked at him.

30 years later, his parents died from natural death. Cory had become the emperor, and all were happy. Cory still remembered the glorious day when he stood up for the kingdom; the kingdom of Snaildom.
