Here's a tip to mining Diamonds:

First, find a lava pit in your mine... Then, dig down to bedrock's lowest point. Finally, dig 9-12 blocks up... and mine the bottom out of your world! (if on PE) (on PC or Xbox, mine until you have enough diamonds)

If this doesn't work... I don't know what to tell you. It works every time for me.
