Be Yourself
By Jacobg627
"Be yourself, life is too short to waste time pretending to be somebody else."
Part I: Friendship
Being confident is the key to life. Don't be afraid to be you! I'm super different from a lot of kids my age with style and personality, and I'm OK with it. And if you are OK with it, everyone else will be, too. Just be yourself. You'll get nowhere trying to fit in. You will make friends by being confident. Some people like you, some people don't. In the end you just have to be yourself. It's those who dislike you who are missing out. You're born into this world alone and alone you'll go out.
My mom told this to me a little while ago. The more time you spend trying to be someone else, the more time that is wasted. In life, it doesn't matter who is cool or not cool. Right now, it may seem like a huge deal that people are bullying you, but later in life that doesn't matter. Once you become an adult, you start fresh. But don't rush to college. You only get one childhood, let it last for as long as you can. You'll never get these years of your life back.
"Yesterday is ashes; tomorrow is wood. Only today does the fire burn brightly."
You only live once, live while you can. You can't be friends with everyone, and he who tries is a fool. But you will make friends.
Part II: Life is Hard
Life is hard. After all, it kills you. To nothing, no one. You're chosen for this job, just know that it passes, but you'll collect scars... They never go away, but they will make you who you are. I can't control this, remember: the moment's beyond us.
You have freedom. Freedom is acknowledging the mask you have on, and possessing the strength to take it off. Freedom is accepting every step of the path, and when it's hard having faith in the ability to embrace that. That's where you are, and this is it. Life is hard and it gets worse and worse and worse. Nothing in life is easy, and you need to work. But if you would only recognize that life is hard, things would be so much easier for you.
Part III: Conclusion
It's hard to stay on one topic throughout one huge post. This is one of my longest posts, and most wise ones too. I hope you liked this post.Thank you for reading, I hope this will one day help you in your life. Thank you very much.

On the first day of science class, the teacher wanted us to fill this paper out to get to know us better. One of them was "If I could be anyone I would be ______ because ____________________." Wanna know what I said? "If I could be anyone I would my myself because everyone else is taken. So we handed the paper back and he came up to me, high-fived me, and gave me a sticker I could put on my composition book.
Incredible post, Grand Most Wise Jacob. Really moved me.

Agreed on everything you said because we don't go younger, but older. So we need to take all the little chances we have in life to enjoy it. Sure we may get scars in the process, but it's on how we use those scars that counts. What do I mean by that? It depends on us if we choose to use them as a reminder that we have to carry on and avoid making that very same mistake. Or use them as a painful thing and being afraid of trying to move on with life, but almost all the time they get depressed because of it.
When people are jealous it just makes things worse, why? Because it blinds them with anger and envy which is a bad combination, if you ask me. It can and will lead you to a battle of who's better and ''cooler'' than the other, but the truth is everyone is cool the way they are. It's not our faults that they doesn't like the way we are!
This is why we need to enjoy being a kid right now because later on we can look in the past and remember all our adventure as kids! But... There's so many electronics now that no kid goes outside to play in the parks and it distracts them on how fun having a pet can actually be! *sighs*
