I figured since Mike didn't understand all the lore of this week's cz, I would write a report on it. His report was well written, check it out here.
Not only did Nook show up, he also brought with him a twist that entailed bad news for Orbay. He took Orbay to WMC and there he told him that he must denounce//disown his parents. Orbay's parents are Cthulhu, a sea monster who allegedly resides at the Sanctum on Das, and Vaire, the wife of Mandos and weaver of tapestries on which life/time is written. Orbay denouncing his parents also came with a great loss to him, if he decided to do it, he would lose his status as a maia. I'm not sure how much sense this makes logically as Orbay is a member of the Seven Chosen Maiar rather than being a maia due to who his parents are. Tbh, I feel like this is more of a test for Orbay to see where his loyalties lie and that he will someday be maia once again.
Orbay decided to denounce his parents. He became a Perfect Man, the perks of which, I do not know. Nook has said that Manwe named Orbay to be his executioner and gave him a list of people Orbay must execute. He was also blessed by Manwe and turned pure white, which is symbolic of being blessed and cleansed of the crimes of his parents.
Later on, when Nook was speaking at Dorval, he was being spoken to by Pythas and Mandos. Since Pythas and Mandos know that Snowfalls is very dear to Gamer and some other people, they decided that they would try to get someone to go into Mandos' Halls to free her. Mandos said that he does not have the key to his own halls and the gates are locked. He said that Vaire currently posses the key and keeps it hidden in her skirt. He told of a backdoor into the halls and tried to convince someone to go through it. He said that whoever enters the halls through the backdoor can never return but the rest of the people who are being held prisoner (aka dead) could be released from the halls.
At first, a couple maiar actually considered this plan and volunteered to go on this suicide mission just to free Snowfalls. But then, it was revealed that this was a trick. Rather than picking who to release from the Halls of Mandos, everyone would have been released. Having this happen was part of the great trick of Pythas and Mandos. It would have benefited them greatly as all their old allies would be living once again. This would include Mickey, the Blackhawks, the Nazgul, basically EVERYONE who has ever died except Morgoth. Since we don't want all that evil released back into the world and because it was actually a terrible idea, none of the maiar entered through the backdoor into the Halls of Mandos.
For now, we are only trusting Pythas and Mandos because they share a common enemy with us (Vaire). Mandos is against Vaire because she has been cheating on her with a great number of men, some of which are maiar, which is apparently a HUGE scandal up there in Heaven. Once Vaire is defeated, the alliance between Pythas, Mandos, and the good will be terminated as Pythas and Mandos want to do their own dark dealings again.
