In this post, I'm going to call things how I see them and break some things down in the hopes that we can all learn something from all this.

In short, I believe that this entire situation was handled very poorly. To start with, we all woke up to a post saying that all witches are KOS, with no reason given, and no willingness to actually look into the group and what it's about. Some time later, after tremendous backlash from the community, we get told that it's because of personal and religious reasons. Okay, that's fine, but that could have (and should have) been stated in the original post. That is why there was such a harsh response from the community: it appeared to be done for no reason out of the blue, and when people tried to start a dialog, they were ignored, leading to even more frustration.

Instead of just blindly marking the group KOS, it would have been really nice if instead there had been any sort of conversation or dialog about it: "Hey, I don't really want a role play group like this in the game because this, this, and this, can you guys make some changes?" That would have likely avoided the entire situation today, and everyone would probably be happy right now.

Lastly, when someone makes a very valid thread trying to give feedback, it gets shut down and removed. That is a very concerning look, and indicates that feedback of any sort isn't welcome; it's my way or the high way. Yes, Damen owns the game and is entitled to control, but this makes me think that our thoughts and inputs don't matter at all, which would be really disappointing. There were some really valid criticisms raised, and I would really hope that when valid criticisms are raised, they aren't just ignored and removed. I hope I am wrong about this, and that it can be cleared up.

I sincerely hope that this doesn't just get swept under the rug, and we can all learn from this and be better in the future.

Remember that moderator training post about compassion, empathy and communication that Damen made? It would be very helpful in this situation.
