Tom Bombadil is the oldest on all of Arda. He is a jolly fellow with not a care in the world. He owns a pony named Fatty Lumpkin (how cute of a name, right!). He is completely uncorruptable, The One Ring holds no power over him. He even scares Old Man Willow (a tree that tried to trap (and eat?) the Hobbits)!

In my opinion, Tom Bombadil is one of the coolest and definitely the most intriguing character in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He is so mysterious and jolly, I think he would be an interesting person to meet. I was left with more questions than answers by the time he made his exit in the story.

There's a theory that Tom Bombadil is Illuvitar, but Tolkien denied it. Hard evidence for it though, look it up. This post takes me back to reading Fellowship in 6th grade. Tom Bombadillo!
