Just a short little reminder, you do not need to quote the entire discussion when commenting on it. The point of commenting on the discussion is to be on topic with it, so quoting isn't necessary.

There is one exception to quoting a discussion, and that's when quoting one portion of the post, usually when asking a question by not understanding that statement or other plausible reasons.

I have made this because I've seen this become a habit to some users, although it's not entirely their fault. If you don't know how to quote only a section of a post, simply highlight the words you want to quote, copy that text, and paste it in between [ quote ][ /quote ]

That's all.

If you would read the post it is not a intro on how to make a quote.

Yeah you're right, he's just reminding us that it's useless to quote the whole discussion, I agree it's a bad habit on some users.

I am confused a bit. In this post that reminds you not always to quote, everyone is quoting! -_- That is confusing...

Music, I believe they are just joking around.
Anyways, it can become quite irritating when a user quotes a whole thread, especially when its a large thread. It produces more scrolling (and we already have enough of that with signatures) that is unecassary. As SecretResearcher said, it's best to quote part of a post.
