i have bean wondering what the numbers and the green background
do you have to like get a load of rep or something

The numbers on backgrounds are your reputation. To earn this, create good and useful posts for people to click 'like'. Each like earns you 1 reputation point.
If you get a dislike, a point is reduced from your reputation.
If your rep is on a red background, it's bad and below 0. If its on green, it's between 0 and 600. 600 and above is yellow/orange.
