I believe it suits the dark theme, but I think for profiles we should be able to change our profile backgrounds, t'was a previous DSGHQ addon which I believe is still around?
I think both what Alatar and Accal said is correct, the background on peoples profile should be able to be customised by the user, but the forums background could change seasonally, like christmas, easter, halloween, etc, but when there is not a holiday, should stay the dark theme. I think that sounds pretty good.
